About TernTales
Founded by two experienced South African educators with deep roots in both South Africa and the Netherlands, TernTales is dedicated to helping your child feel at home in their new environment. Our specially designed digital Dutch lessons for Afrikaans and English speakers cater to children aged 2 to early teens, giving them a head start in learning Dutch language and culture. Our approach is simple yet powerful: we tap into the natural, instinctive way children learn. Through playful, interactive, and gamified lessons, children are encouraged to explore the Dutch language in a way that’s engaging and fun. From learning their first Dutch words to understanding the everyday cultural nuances, our courses make language learning an enjoyable adventure for expat kids of all ages.

Lezanne Cornelius
Early Years Education Expert B.Ed
An experienced educator who has worked in both pre-primary and remedial teaching for over 12 years, helping young learners overcome educational challenges. Since relocating to the Netherlands, Lezanne has enriched students’ cultural understanding by teaching about South Africa and offering Afrikaans language courses at various institutions.
Gordon Pretorius
Language Learning and Educational Design - B.Ed
A lecturer, teacher and coach at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht with a background in sports, having coached rugby in South Africa and the Netherlands. Gordon specialises in pedagogical and methodological practices in language learning, and has facilitated courses based on subjects such as educational research and curriculum design.
